Critics can be harsh and I think it’s going to take me a long time to make people see what I have inside of me and that I really put my guts into movies and that I’m not superficial and that I’m not just a pretty face.

“I always have those feelings - lucky and blessed - and I don’t know if they’ll ever go away. I really hope they don’t, as I think it keeps you grounded. That’s how I feel about every film I do.”

“We could go there,” he says at last. I think he must be joking, so I start to laugh. He stays quiet, though, and when I open my eyes I see his face is totally composed. “We could go if you want to.”

When I’m awake, I know I can live with myself.
